J.K. Rowling Introduces The Ickabog : Her New Children’s Book

J.K. Rowling, the renowned British author of the Harry Potter Books, took to Twitter yesterday to make a delightful announcement. She introduces her new fiction The Ickabog for Children. She announces that she will be publishing each chapters of her new book every week from 26th May to 10th July online for free for Children in lockdown and for people who are affected by this Pandemic situation.

JKR recalls that The Ickabog’s first draft was from the time she was writing Harry Potter. She planned to publish this book right after The Deathly Hallows part but her break from publishing didn’t allow the chance. She fondly remembers the memory that she used to read this book for her own 2 children when they were kids. She has brought down the drafts that was collecting dust in her attic for the world to see it. Now, the teenagers are still enthusiastic about the idea of The Ickabog reaches to all the little kids in the world to share their happiness. JKR says she enters the fictional realm she thought she wouldn’t again.

She says “The Ickabog is a story about truth and the abuse of power. To forestall one obvious question: the idea came to me well over a decade ago, so it isn’t intended to be read as a response to anything that’s happening in the world right now. The themes are timeless and could apply to any era or any country.”

The Ickabog is said to be published in print, eBook and audiobook formats, followed by translated in other languages by November 2020. J.K. Rowling is pledging all her royalties from this new book to help the group of people who are particularly impacted by this COVID19 pandemic.
