The second edition of Kerala Cricket Association’s Pink T20 Challengers will begin on December 17th. Five teams – Team Amber, Team Emerald, Team Pearl, Team Ruby, Team Sapphire- will participate in the tournament. All five teams will feature senior national team players like Minnu Mani, Sajana Sanjeevan, Keerthi James among others.

The matches will take place in the Round Robin Format. The top two teams will qualify for the final which will take place on 27th December 2021. Sanatana Dharma College Ground in Alappuzha will host all the matches of the tournament.
Team Ruby and Team Sapphire will lock horns in the first match of the tournament. This will be the repeat of last year’s final. Team Sapphire led by Sajana Sanjeevan defeated Team Ruby convincingly in the final of the last edition.
Batting first, Team Ruby managed only 55 as Sajana Sanjeevan ran through the batting order, ended with 3 for 5. She had good support from Sandra Suren and Aparna.
In return, Team Sapphire lost three early wickets but the experience of Sajana helped the team to get over the line. The skipper made 21 while Sayoojya made unbeaten 25.
The last year’s tournament which happened during the pandemic had helped the players to get back to form and most importantly, had helped the selectors to identify new talent.
Talking about the tournament, the Sajana Sanjeevan said that this tournament will be useful for the team to get ready before the Women’s Senior T20 Trophy.
“This (KCA Pink T-20 Challengers) is a very bright platform for upcoming players. It will help us for upcoming T-20 domestic matches. We can use this tournament like our practice matches.”

Sajana ended with 14 wickets as well as 232 runs in the last edition of the tournament.
Shani Sasidharan of Team Ruby had the most runs, 369, with an average close to 53 while striking at 119.58.
