England has been penalized for slow over-rate, ICC announced today.
David Boon of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees took the decision to fine England with 100 per cent match-fee as well as deduction of five World Test Championship Points.
The Joe Root’s side was found five overs short of the target even after the time allowances were taken to consideration.
Based on the Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel and Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, David Boon came to this conclusion.
On the other hand, Australia’s Travis Head has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee, a level 1 breach of code of conduct.
Head has violated Article 2.3 of ICC Code of Conduct, which states- “use of an audible obscenity during an International Match.”
This is Head’s first violation in 24-month period.
