Russia to register world’s 1st COVID19 vaccine in a few days: Putin

Amid the rising of coronavirus cases, Russia will register the first vaccine for coronavirus in a few days, says president Vladimir Putin.

Putin wrote on his Facebook page saying that the vaccine had passed all the necessary tests.

“The world’s first vaccine against coronavirus will be registered in Russia in a few days.
Russian scientists passed necessary test stages and proved the safety and effectiveness of the drug. Our medicine has adequately coped with the epidemic and now gives hope not only to our country, but to the whole world. Once the Soviet satellite paved the way for humanity into space, now the Russian vaccine will pave the way to the future without COVID-19, masks and social isolation,” he wrote.

Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev also said that the vaccine was developed by Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Defence Ministry and will be registered on 12 August.

The clinical trail consisting of 30+ volunteers began on June 18th and the first batch of volunteers discharged on July 15th and the second batch on July 20 after developing necessary immunity to fight the virus.
