Super Smash 2022 Canterbury Magicians defeat Northern Districts by 14 runs

Canterbury Magicians had a winning start to Super Smash 2022 as they took down Northern Districts in the 1st match of the tournament.

Frankie Mackay, who picked up an injury earlier this year, has been ruled out of the 2022 competition and Amy Satterthwaite was appointed as the captain of the team.

The former White Fern all-rounder led the team from the front as she got to 52-ball 73 and shared a good partnership with Kate Anderson as well. The latter made 25-ball 34.

Amanda Jade Wellington is back to Super Smash but this time for Northern Districts. The Australian star ended with 1/17 on her Northern Districts debut.

In return, Caitlin Gurrey gave the team an excellent start with 66 runs on the board but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for them to climb to the other side of the result.
