WI vs PAK, 1st Test: Roach-Seales take West Indies home

West Indies pulled off a thrilling victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Sabina Park.

The host had 16 runs to chase with one wicket in hand during the final session of the play. The match could’ve gone either way and it seemed that way until the final delivery.

Roach and Seales, who dominated with the ball earlier, were left to do the job with the bat this time.

The duo slowly kept the scoreboard ticking and the luck was with them too as edges flew to boundaries.

Finally, with a couple, Roach sealed the deal for the team.

Chasing 168, Jermaine Blackwood was the star with the bat. He made 55 after Shaheen Afridi, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali ran through the top order.

Afridi had four wickets while Hasan Ali had three. Ashraf had a couple of wickets to his name as well.

Ashraf was the star with the bat too for Pakistan. He had 44 runs in the first and 20 runs in the second. He supported Fawad Alam’s fifty well as the team made 217 in the first innings.

West Indies had their captain Kraigg Brathwaite leading the team from the front. He made 97 while former skipper Holder had 56. Shaheen Afridi had four wickets for Pakistan. The team ended with 253.

In return, Seales was the star with the ball as he ended up with five wickets. Babar Azam had a half-century but other than that none of the players could convert their start.

West Indies now takes 1-0 lead against Pakistan, a brilliant start to their WTC cycle.
