Mulugu MLA Seethakka walks 10 km to distribute essentials to tribes

Mulugu MLA Danasari Anasuya is a sister figure to tribals in the Telangana.

She is fondly called as Seethakka by her people. The Congress MLA is doing an extraordinary job to provide foods and other essentials for the tribals located far from the city.

Most of the places are not accessible by car or two wheelers and the MLA along with her followers would pack goods, take a tractor.

If tractor cannot reach the place, they would take bullock cart.

Most of the places can only be reached by walking and the MLA would carry the goods and walk for hours.

Along with her followers she would trek for kilometres, sometimes, more than 10 kms while carrying the goods to help her people.

Everyday, she would start her journey by 8 in the morning.

She said that the tribes are scared and do not have much idea about the virus. She added that they knew about the orders of Government but they are not clear about what was happening.

She also added that her first job is to create awareness among the people.

The two-time MLA has been a Maoist for over fifteen years before joining politics. Since being elected as a people’s representative to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly first in 2009 and then again in 2018 (then Telangana), Seethakka has been at the beck and call of the residents of her constituency, a majority of which is made up of Adivasis or Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.

Seethakka belongs to Koya Tribe. She joined left extremists movement at very young age before becoming Dalam commander.

While she was underground, she escaped more than six encounters from the Police. However, her life changed when she surrendered.

She went on to pursue law and became a lawyer before joining the politics. The 48 years old MLA is currently pursuing Ph.D at Osmania University.
