2021 is a special year when it comes to sports. Thus, as many as 11 sportspeople are recommended for India’s highest sporting honour – the Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award.
Indian ODIs and Test team Mithali Raj is the only one from cricket who is recommended for the highest sporting honour this year.
Indian football Sunil Chhetri is the first football player to be recommended for the award.
Indian Olympics and Paralympics superstars are recommended for the honour as well.
Indian hockey keeper PR Sreejesh has been recommended for Khel Ratna as well.
For Arjuna Award, Shikhar Dhawan is the only cricketer to be recommended. As many as 35 sportspeople have been recommended for the award.
Tamil Nadu’s Bhavani Devi, who was the first fencer from India to qualify for the Olympics, is recommended as well.
