Bigg Boss 5 Tamil Day 89 begins with Priyanka and Pavni talking about the Ticket to Finale task. They review how the game went so far. Priyanka says that she will support for Ameer in the final task. Priyanka is then seen eating something Thamarai had prepared. She is angry that Thamarai didn’t eat that chocolate that Priyanka gave her.
Pavni, Thamarai and Niroop talk about how the Ticket to finale coin is very flashy. Thamarai talks to Niroop about how he is very deserving and he should be proud because he got eliminated because of others not because of him.
The final task for the Ticket to finale is announced.
Both Ameer and Ciby are given a small table each to stand. They can keep only one leg in that stand. Before that stand, there are two polls and a bag tied through via volley. Both Ciby and Ameer must stand in one leg and must hold on to a rope to make sure that the bag shouldn’t get down. To their luck, rain also plays a spoilsport. Both Ameer and Ciby stand in rain as well. In the end, Ameer wins the task. With that, Ameer is the first direct finalist of Bigg Boss 5 Tamil. He dedicates it to his student Alhena.
On the other hand, Thamarai and Niroop talk about how they don’t care who enters the final. After Ameer wins, Thamarai asks what would happen next, Niroop says that everything depends on the audience vote now.
Vasanth and Co. Promotion task.
Contestants are separated into two teams. It is a puzzle based on Vasanth and Co combo offers. Teams must match it properly. Team A wins it.

Vasanth and Co. also give a special gift for A team for winning the task.
Then the contestants are seen celebrating by cutting the cake.

Raju– Must talk to everyone in his house, must talk about what they are going through. He adds that he had learnt a lot many things from contestants. Sanjeev- How to care for everyone, Priyanka- How to open up and stand up for others.

Ameer- Laugh hard, how to stay patience
Thamarai– She is very happy inside the house, something she would take it outside.
Pavni– Tamil, More friends and how to talk to everyone, patience
Contestants are then made to dance for New Year special numbers
