Day 40 of Bigg Boss 5 Tamil begins with the continuation of the award night. After the major three awards, we see awards based on famous dialogues.

We then move to next round of awards where a few crowns with wordings are kept.

- Set Property- Priyanka doesn’t want to give this award to anyone. Bigg Boss warns her to give it someone and therefore, she gives it to Iyakki Berry for the way she was in the first week.

- Jaalra- Iyakki Berry gives it to Priyanka, says that she was influenced by Abhishek initially
- Javvu Mittaai- Thamarai to Isaivani
- Saguni- Niroop gives it Varun and Akshara
- Dummy Piece- Abhinay gives it to Raju
- Group la Dupe- Varun gives it to Pavni
- Thotta Siningi- Imman Annachi gives it to Isaivani
- Poli- Ciby to Varun
- Veththu Vaettu- Isai to Imman Annachi
- Visha bottle (Poison)- Pavni to Akshara

With that, the award night ends.
Pavni gives punishment for Niroop, asks him to clean the entire kitchen and living room once again. She also warns that there will be punishment then and there hereafter. She also gives punishment to Thamarai, asks her to clean the garden area. Raju feels it is too much as everyone is tired after attending the award function. Pavni asks Raju to mind his business. Thamarai says that she will not cook the next day because of the punishment.
Pavni talks to Madhumitha and Abhinay about Raju and says that he is actually poisoning people by influencing them.
Bigg Boss announces that Niroop must calculate and use all his luxury budget task amount all alone. He shouldn’t get help from anyone. Abhinay must inspect whether Niroop is doing the task alone without anyone’s help.
Niroop works with numbers but he comes up with an amount more than the luxury budget task amount. Therefore, Bigg Boss rejects it and cancels the luxury budget.
Bigg Boss announces that every contestant must pick three other contestants based on being courageous, Straight forward and honest in the house.

In the end, Iyakki, Priyanka and Ciby get the most votes and they are picked to participate in the leadership task round for the next week along with Niroop, who had won the luxury budget task.
Now, Bigg Boss announces the next round. He asks everyone to pick two contestants who are not playing their game alone and had always needed someone’s help; Someone who is not speaking out when needed. This is the only round where the contestants can self-nominate themselves.
