Chennai sees a huge surge in number of COVID19 cases in recent times.
From below 1000, the number of cases are increased to 2481 on January 5th and is likely to increase more unless the people follow proper protocols.
On January 5th, 1,17,382 people were tested in the state overall and Tamil Nadu reported 4862 cases with 2481 cases from Chennai. Chengalpat reported 596 cases while Coimbatore had 259 cases.
688 people were discharged today while there were nine new deaths.
